Indian Natural Health Traditions
Ayurveda, an ancient Indian natural health tradition, has the proven history of over 4000 years. It is one of the earliest and most rigorous of scientific disciplines. Ayurveda, “the science of life,” offers a holistic approach to health that goes beyond caring for the body. It is a unique system of health care concerned with the prevention and cure of diseases. It is not only a science of life but the way of life, too. It aims at achieving a harmonious physical, mental and spiritual blend with the environment.
Now in the present world, Ayurveda has emerged as one of the most important streams of alternative medicine in India and all over the world.
Principles of Ayurveda
To understand the complexity of the different body functions in a simple way, Ayurveda put forward the theory of Tridosha. This theory gives an enormous idea to choose specific diet, activities for healthy individual and different measures to tackle the diseases.
Tridosha, the three forms of biological energy, are Vata(V), Pitta(P), and Kapha(K). These pervade the body and mind and govern the arrays of bodily mechanisms. They each have their own qualities and actions.
